Sunset on Gili Trawangan

You can’t beat a good sunset photo, and some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen were from the beaches of the Indonesian island of Gili Trawangan. Just off the coast of Lombok, the island is a laid-back backpacker haven. We came across a beach-side sunset bar at the south of the island, where people gathered to watch the changing colours over a cold bottle of Bintang. The shallow coral reefs just offshore gave some interesting rock formations and the huge flat pools of water reflected the colours in the sky above – from blue to yellow, pink and orange – as the sun began to dip behind the clouds.

Thanks for the comments! The water on the reef was so shallow it made a great reflection and the colours were beautiful. Wouldn’t mind being there now rather than a rainy Cheltenham!

    Wow! Incredible sunset photos!

I have just discovered your blog and find it very inspiring! I have spent this year traveling round SE Asia and teaching English in Vietnam. I still haven’t made it to Indonesia but I fully intend to soon! These photos have sealed the deal! Love them.

Thanks again for the great site. I’m heading to China and then Australia very soon, you can follow my journey here, if you have a second.

Thanks, Indonesia had some amazing sunsets, and you can’t beat watching them on the beach. Will definitely follow your adventures in Australia – I spent a year there 10 years ago so it’ll be interesting to see how things have changed! Have a great trip.
